Tooling Engineer (Mech Engr.) |

Responsibilities:
Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports; confer with engineers and other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical information; research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements of designs or applications; specify system components or direct modification of products to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications; research, design, evaluate, install, operate, and maintain mechanical products, equipment, systems and processes to meet requirements, applying knowledge of engineering principles; and assist drafters in developing the structural design of products using drafting tools or computer-assisted design (CAD) or drafting equipment and software.
Provide scientific, technical and mechanical expertise and advice to engineers regarding the development, testing and maintaining of press tooling and associated heavy equipment to ensure processes proceed efficiently and cost effectively; devise, fabricate, and assemble new or modified mechanical components for products, such as industrial tooling equipment and machinery, power equipment, machine tools, and measuring instruments; and set up and conduct tests of complete units and components under operational conditions to investigate design proposals for improving equipment performance or other factors, or to obtain data for development, standardization and quality control.
Review engineering designs and suggest possible design modifications and manufacturing methods for easier and cost-efficient process. Use CAD to design and evaluate various metal and plastic components. Review assembly designs and establish process and design automation process suitable for customer and company. Review strip layout, tool designs, mold designs, FAI and PPAPs and discuss with customer on daily basis. Work closely with manufacturing team from design stage to mass production to maintain quality and scheduling standards. Maintain work on high performance plastic injection molds. Maintain hot runner systems. Work on continuous improvement programs. Analyze injection molding problems and take corrective action. Manage moldmakers to meet mold maintenance schedules. Maintain light pen housing molds.
Review engineering drawing, mold designs and ultrasonic welding process; suggest and implement design modifications and manufacturing methods. Read and interpret technical drawings and computer generated reports; confer with engineers to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions and provide technical information. Use high precision measurements and mold adjustments within 0.002mm tolerance.
